WMAS was appointed as the PTS provider for Cheshire, Warrington and The Wirral area in July 2016. The service has been commissioned by Blackpool CCG on behalf of the six CCGs listed below:
- Eastern Cheshire
- South Cheshire
- Vale Royal
- Warrington
- West Cheshire
- Wirral
What is included in the contract?
Patients who are registered with a GP in any of the listed CCGs for journeys to healthcare appointments locally, throughout the region and further afield (e.g. specialist treatment).
The contract is operational from 08:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday, plus Saturday and twilight renal dialysis.
What is not included in the contract?
We do not take patients to private appointments, nor to routine GP appointments. Patients travelling into the area from outside the core CCGs should make arrangements with the local PTS provider.
WMAS may undertake journeys outside the contractual core hours if resources are available.
Are all patients included?
No. Patients will need to meet eligibility criteria set by the CCGs (in line with DoH guidance). PTS is for those with a clinical need. Patients should be encouraged to use their own / public transport or travel with friends or relatives.
Patients will be asked a number of questions to determine eligibility and ensure the right transport is allocated; this is why it is important they request transport, wherever possible.
