GP Referrals

The new contract includes transport for some patients who have been seen by a GP and require transport to any NHS site for a same day assessment. Traditionally these patients have travelled on an emergency ambulance.

This is for referrals made via the Single Point of Access based at Moseley Hall Hospital, for patients registered with Birmingham Cross City, Birmingham South Central and Sandwell & West Birmingham CCGs

What is not included in the contract?

Are all patients included?

No. Patients will need to meet eligibility criteria set by the CCG (in line with DoH guidance). PTS is for those with a clinical need. Patients should be encouraged to use their own / public transport or travel with friends or relatives.

Patients will be asked a number of questions to determine eligibility and ensure the right transport is allocated; this is why it is important they request transport, wherever possible.
